Details

Smith and Lovett maybe long gone, but their work lives on.  They paid attention to detail in 1845 to a manhole cover… A beautiful, utilitarian antique that has weathered over 150 years outdoors in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Airport Art

Terminal 2 which used to be the International Terminal at San Francisco Airport opened with some fanfare a few weeks ago.  I got a chance to see it for the first time this weekendTerminal 2 SFO,

Since 9/11, the airport experience has gotten more stressful and time consuming. Artwork is a good distraction and there are good examples in T2.   If you’re not rushing through, it’s worth a pause.  Look up and and look around.

Kaleido Color

While the monochromatic challenge was going on with Project Modern, I was chafing at not using color.   So the pendulum swung the other way with this in one evening of nutty obsessive cutting, piecing and pressing.

My plan was for it to become the center of a medallion quilt.  But now looking more at it, I might make 3 more of these and have them be four quadrants of different kaleidoscopes.  Maybe even different colors.   I’m not sure.  What do you think?
