Fat Tuesday

A list of 100 places to eat in SF at 7×7.com lead to a challenge between friends –  At how many had we eaten? (Here’s a printable version Big_Eat_List_2010)  We were on a mission in the Mission in SF exploring and eating today – on Fat Tuesday no less.

We started with burritos as well as tacos, chips, and aqua fresca at El Farolito (number 78 on the list)

We ogled the paper cuts in the window of a store while preparing to consume more.

We had cheese bread at the Mexican bakery down the street because we couldn’t resist the display in this window.  While delicious, the gastrointestinal real estate and calories consumed here were unwarranted.  The bakery is not on the list.  We have goals folks!

We forged on to consume spiced chocolate donuts, a ginger orange donut, and four barrel coffee at Dynamo Donut (number 54)

And we then waddled down the street to Secret Breakfast (Bourbon with Corn Flakes) ice cream at Humphry Slocombe. (number 45) Secret or not, I don’t recommend this combination for breakfast, but it makes a mighty fine ice cream.  I sampled also ‘Jesus Juice Sorbet’ (Coke and Red Wine flavored) and ‘Elvis – the fat days -ice cream’.  (Bacon, Peanut Brittle, and Banana) Elvis’s ice cream is disturbingly good.

After four stops, countless calories and good company, we checked off three things on our list of 100 things.

We’re committing to doing this every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Stay tuned for continuing installments of our very own Fat Tuesdays where we discover the limits of our stretch pants and food in the city.
