I’ve been reading Sunset Magazine for 40+ years. It had gardening tips – compete with regional and microclimate advice, food and party lifestyle articles, guides for tours and road trip destinations, ranch style homes, articles on architecture, and pictures of cool families entertaining in their backyards. It emphasized “Western” living, and I loved it because it had plenty of pictures and published “how-to’s” on how to do things like plant rose bushes, build a potting bench, and macrame a plant hanger.
The current iteration of Sunset stays relatively true to its original mission. There’s still architecture, gardening, food, and travel, and they’ve added wine to the mix.
This weekend we went to the Sunset Celebration at their Menlo Park headquarters and came back home with fun pictures and ideas.
