What do you imagine creativity looks like?
I met Janet Echelman a few months ago. This is her office. She’s an artist, mother, wife, friend, teacher, boss, landlord, party planner, and I’m sure I should list another 100 things. On top of that, she’s a Guggenheim fellow but you wouldn’t know to look at her. What does one look like?
She recently installed art in the new SFO (San Francisco Airport) Terminal 2 building. I blogged about it and other art here.
Janet spoke at TED in March and her talk was posted on TED’s site this week. (For some reason, the video is not embedding nicely on this page, so click the link and check it out) And here is the TED blog post with an interview with Janet.
I would venture to say that creativity and imagination in Janet’s case looks like hard work, perseverance, taking chances, collaborating, and making unlikely connections.
I am the editor for Forward, a free, digital architecture and design journal. I have recently interviewed Janet and would love to include your images of her office in the article. I, of course, would attribute the images to you. Please email me.
