The Boy and I designed and made this quilt for his crew coach. Coach is expecting his first baby. Turns out it’s a going to be a girl, but we didn’t know that when we made the quilt.
We went with ‘grellow’ – Grey and yellow – to reflect the colors of Norcal’s crew team logo which is black and gold. You can see the shape in the oars behind the nutty team picture. The quilt is one of the smaller ones we’ve made (48″x32″), but it’s for a baby after all. Between finals, and testing, and awards banquets, and the Boy being the one that did a large amount of the work piecing and quilting (this being a gift from him) it’s a solid effort. It’s backed with super soft Minkee and quilted all over with the swirls that all good rowers create with their oars.
