All the Hearts for All the Kids

Katherine England is to blame for my adding piecing and breaking glass and tile bits to the artsy craftsy stuff I was already doing.

Did I need to start a collection of opaque glass pieces, marbles, and mirror; keeping every shard and tile; combing the tile aisle at Home Depot for new grout colors and colorants?

No. I did not.

But when life or fabric gets tiresome and I want to get outside and make mud pies and break dishes, mosaic’ing is the solution.

Amongst the 1000+ things Katherine does, she raises money for All the Arts for All the Kids in Fullerton California. The hearts that are on display to be auctioned are amazing. Each and every one.

Treasure Hunt

We went to the Alameda Point Antique Fair Sunday. It’s the 1st Sunday of every month except for when it’s called for bad weather in which case it’s the 2nd Sunday.

The people watching was awesome. As was seeing one man’s trash become another’s treasure.

Why yes, there’s gold glitter in that grout and lots of it. And that’s orange fur coat too. It’ll keep you nice and warm, and easy to spot.

Co Conspirator

The Co Quilter has acquired a Co Conspirator. Murphy joined Schnap this week as a canine member of the family.

He’s a rescue dog. (So was Schnap actually.) In Murphy’s case we don’t know a lot about his background other than he was picked up off the streets in Kern County. His teeth show that he’s been through a lot in his short life. Hopefully things will be less eventful and treacherous here.

So far he hasn’t spent much time quilting with me, preferring to run rambunctiously around the yard with squeaky toys in his mouth and sniffing everything he can get his nose on. But Schnap’s ok with that. Some hobbies are not for everyone.
