SCRAP is an acronym for Scrounger’s Center for Reusable Art Parts. I think there are SCRAP centers in different locations, but the one nearest me is in San Francisco. I both donate and buy/scrounge there. I love being able to share, exchange and contemplate projects using recycled things with a community stash all curated and organized by volunteers.
On any given day there might be old slides, film canisters, CD’s, preloaded bobbins of thread, buttons, candle molds, cookie tins, mannequins, fabric, upholstery samples, corks,
fake fur, nails, records, mat board, framing supplies, pipettes, baskets, ribbon, labels,
stamps, artificial flowers, old magazines, tile….you name it.

Even though it takes every bit of willpower that I’ve got to avoid hoarding things and collecting more bits and pieces than I need every time I visit.
