Tripping Around the World

Piecedgoods Scrappy Trip AroundThere are times when a quilt a long is just the thing.   A bunch of folks got drawn into the vortex of the Scrappy Trip Around the World quilt a long.  I was not able to avoid this vortex.  There’s a Flickr Group for lots of pictures of what everyone else is doing.  There’s the original tutorial.  Mine was completely randomly put together of scraps and strips I had bits and pieces of.  Thus the crazy color scheme. I kinda like it.

If you go to the Flickr group though you’ll see folks that were much more purposeful about how they placed their colors or selected colors for their quilt blocks.

It’s been fun to make these blocks. I have been consumed with the nonsense of every day, plus some other more strategic things.  These are times I find repetitive, not-too-brain draining-creative-pursuits most satisfying.  Knitting garter stitch shawls.  Spinning.  And here… making these Scrappy Trip Around the World blocks.

piecedgoods Scrappy BlocksThe blocks are not yet sewn together. That’s next.

Needing a bit more time…I know how that feels! This is a good quilt to squeeze in for a few minutes a day. Once you get going, there’s not a lot of pondering necessary…unless you want 🙂

  3. Very Pretty and I will admit I was forced into the vortex too…trying to finish mine also…
